Coming to Kickstarter · Book One, Issue #1

Grandmasters

Jacob grew up on a farm. He was born for something much bigger.

In secret, he trains under Tora, one of the last grandmasters of the fallen Wu Lin Temple. When he fights his way into the Tournament of the King, Jacob starts to learn who he really is, and what he will risk for the people he loves. Grandmasters is the first book in a seven-book kung fu universe, and Issue #1 is coming to Kickstarter.

Why I'm writing this

I wanted to draw comics before I ever learned kung fu

I come from a family of artists. My dad was a painter and a carpenter who could really draw, and my grandmother's sister was the Washington, D.C. painter Georgia Mills Jessup. Comics were my first dream. Then I started kung fu at fourteen, and the training took over.

Years later, while I was training under my Sifu, Grandmaster Tai Yim, he gave me some of his original comics from Hong Kong. That's when I started dreaming up this universe. Today I'm a ninth-generation master of Hung Fut kung fu, and I'm finally telling the stories I've carried with me all this time.

What these stories are about

Built like a kung fu school

A kung fu school puts people from every background on the same floor, all working toward the same thing. That's the spirit of this universe. These are stories about discipline, sacrifice, honor, and growing into a better version of yourself.

These aren't religious comics, but they carry the values I live by: sacrifice, redemption, honor, and growing into who you were made to be.
